Choose a signature image with the right background

A transparent PNG lets the underlying page show around the signature. JPG does not support transparency, so a white background in the image remains visible. Crop excess margins before placing the image, then check that the strokes remain readable at the chosen width.

  • Use an image you are authorized to place on the document.
  • Check the selected page and placement in the preview before exporting.
  • Keep the original PDF and inspect the exported copy before sharing it.

An image overlay is not a signing workflow

Why does my signature have a white rectangle behind it?

The background is part of the source image. JPG cannot be transparent; use a PNG that actually contains transparency if you need the page to remain visible around the signature.

Can this tool draw a new signature or edit an Apple Pages document?

This tool accepts an existing PNG or JPG image and a PDF. Use Draw Signature to PDF if you need to draw a signature. A document from another application must be exported to PDF before it can be used here.

Is a signature image the same as a digital signature?

No. This tool adds a visible image overlay. It does not create a cryptographic certificate-based digital signature.
