How it works

How to use Remove Image Metadata online

  1. Choose the photo whose embedded metadata you want to remove.
  2. Choose an output format and quality, then create a clean copy locally.
  3. Download the new file and inspect it with Image Metadata Viewer before sharing.

Overview

Remove hidden photo details before sharing an image

Create a new image copy without carrying over the source photo's embedded EXIF fields, including GPS and camera details. Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP and check the result before sharing it. Your photo is re-encoded locally in the browser.

What this removes and what stays visible

The tool redraws the decoded picture into a new image, so the original EXIF metadata is not copied into the export. Information visible in the picture, such as an address, face, or watermark, remains visible. Filenames and metadata added later by another application are separate from the original embedded EXIF fields.

Check quality as well as privacy

This workflow re-encodes the image rather than editing only its metadata bytes. JPG and WebP quality settings can change fine detail, and color-profile handling may change appearance. Compare the exported photo with the original, then use Image Metadata Viewer to check the copy you intend to share.
